Dmitry M. Sinelnikov

Dmitry Mikhailovich Sinelnikov is a key figure in the development of the Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data (HPC Lab), whose professional activity is inextricably linked with the history of the laboratory from its very origins. In 2017, after graduating from the Master's program at MEPhI, Dmitry began his research activity as a postgraduate student in the HPC Group scientific group under the supervision of Mikhail Mikhailovich Rovnyagin. Since then, he has gone from a novice researcher to one of the main founders and leaders of the laboratory. Sinelnikov D.M. is the architect and founder of the modern IT infrastructure of the laboratory. He was the one who configured the Laboratory's own server equipment, developed a secure VPN network and access gateway to the laboratory's resources, and implemented and configured Proxmox for the efficient use of computing resources. The DevOps platform created by Dmitry Mikhailovich based on GitLab CI and a unified SSO authentication system had a significant and very positive impact on the speed of development of the Laboratory's projects.

D.M. Sinelnikov is the key creator and teacher of the "DevOps Technologies" course as part of the HPC Lab. Over the years of teaching this course, more than a hundred students have mastered: Fundamentals of continuous integration and code delivery Docker technology and delimitation of process spaces in the operating system Creating Docker host clusters and scaling containers Configuring Kubernetes for container orchestration Automation of software development and operation processes In 2023, after the successful completion of the pilot course, the activities of the Laboratory were specially noted on the official website of NRNU MEPhI. Together with M.M. Rovnyagin, Dmitry Mikhailovich developed and implemented a system for training specialists, which over the years of joint work has made it possible to train more than a thousand highly qualified specialists in the field of BigData, DevOps and hybrid supercomputer technologies.

Dmitry Sinelnikov is an active participant in scientific research and the author of a number of significant publications:

2016 IEEE NW Russia Young Researchers in Electrical and Electronic Engineering Conference (EIConRusNW) - co-author of the work "Software development framework for a distributed storage and GPGPU data processing infrastructure", where he presented the architecture of a distributed data storage system using GPGPU technologies to accelerate data processing. This work became the basis for the further development of the Fluid Storage project.

2023 - co-author of the scientific work Data Exchange Acceleration Methods in a Decentralized File System as part of the team presented at the scientific seminar 2023 Seminar on Information Computing and Processing (ICP) Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation.

Hackathon "Leaders of Digital Transformation 2023" - as part of the team of the BigData&AI laboratory of NRNU MEPhI "The Way of the Samurai", Dmitry Mikhailovich acted as a "Full stack guru". In a short period of time, the team developed a recommendation service based on Spark, PostgreSQL and Next.js, deployed on the domestic Baikal processor and reached the final. In the final, held in the Lomonosov cluster of Moscow State University, the team took an honorable 7th place among 63 finalists.

Dmitry Mikhailovich, together with Rovnyagin M.M., actively participated in the implementation of joint projects with AvtoVAZ within the framework of a grant to create an AI Research Center in the field of transport and logistics. In 2024, he participated in the visits of the MEPhI delegation to the AvtoVAZ production site in Tolyatti, where issues of optimizing intra-plant logistics processes were discussed.

Laboratory Management In 2025, after Rovnyagin M.M. left MEPhI, Dmitry Mikhailovich Sinelnikov took over the management of the HPC Lab. Under his leadership, the laboratory continues to develop key areas: research in the field of big data, development of intelligent container orchestration systems, and creation of autonomous solutions based on large language models. Particular attention is paid to the commercialization of scientific developments and strengthening ties with industrial partners.

Dmitry Mikhailovich Sinelnikov's contribution to the development of the HPC Lab cannot be overestimated - it was his technical expertise and dedication to the educational mission that allowed for the development of one of the most successful scientific and educational laboratories at MEPhI, which trains highly qualified specialists for the Russian IT industry.
